My name is Joel Long and I work with stained glass. Indigenous art has always been a part of my life. When I was very young, I loved to draw. Drawing helped me communicate with nature in a different way. I have used my drawing skills to work with various kinds of mediums that include wood, steel, and in recent years, glass. Most of the pieces I make focus on nature and God's beautiful creatures. I really ienjoy the challenge of taking a photo and making a custom piece that includes all the elements included in the photo like the tiny leaves on a tree or the feathers on a bird. I have created custom pieces such as suncatchers, as well as bathroom, kitchen and door windows. I also create glass panels. I am a member of the Choctaw Artist Registry. At this time I have feathers on display at the Choctaw Cultural Center, Choctaw Headquarters, Choctaw Travel Plazas, and the Chickasaw Market. I have participated in the Choctaw Art Show and last year I won award for one of my pieces.
